Authoring Programmes
Authoring Programmes are software used to create didactical material without any knowledge of programming languages.
They are empty cases which teachers fill in with his/her own material to be tranformed into Hyper Text Marked up Language (HTML) used in the Web.
The exercises and tests showed on this site have been created using the Authoring Programme HOT POTATOES. The Hot Potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling you to create interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. Hot Potatoes is not freeware, but it is free of charge for non-profit educational users who make their pages available on the web. Other users must pay for a licence. We have been collaborating with Martin Holmes (one of the creator of the programme) from University of Victoria (British Columbia - Canada) translating into Italian the Hot Potatoes tutorial and interface
The EFL Department and Newspeak have set up an online distance learning course about Hot Potatoes awarded as one of the top 100 educational sites in Europe in the event e-Schola 2001 of the European Schoolnet
