SIMPLE PRESENT o PRESENT CONTINUOUS?

Distinguiamo l'uso del Simple Present dall'uso del Present Continuous.

Il Simple Present si usa in due principali tipi di azioni:

ABITUDINI: azioni che avvengono o non avvengono regolarmente
(ogni giorno, ogni anno)
STATI: cose che non cambiano facilmente
(opinioni, condizioni)

TIPO DI AZIONE	ESEMPIO	SPIEGAZIONE
ABITUDINE	Mike goes to church every Sunday	every Sunday indica un'abitudine
ABITUDINE	It rains a lot in Milan	significa che piove spesso
ABITUDINE	Sheila always talks about you	always indica un'abitudine
ABITUDINE	Bob always spends Christmas with us	ciò implica che Bob trascorre il Natale con noi ogni anno
STATO	George lives in England	questo è uno stato perché non cambia
STATO	Mary has green eyes	di solito il colore degli occhi di qualcuno non cambia
STATO	Sam likes coffee	quando piace qualcosa, di solito piace sempre

Il Present Continuous si usa per due tipi principali di azioni:

AZIONE CHE AVVIENE ORA: qualcosa che avviene nel momento in cui parliamo
UN PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO: qualcosa che si intende fare in un futuro prossimo e che è stata già programmata

AZIONE CHE AVVIENE ORA	It's snowing outside	Sta nevicando ora, ma presto potrebbe smettere
AZIONE CHE AVVIENE ORA	She's working in the office	Ci sta lavorando proprio adesso
AZIONE CHE AVVIENE ORA	Bob is spending Christmas with his parents	Bob sta trascorrendo il Natale con i suoi ora
PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO	I'm watching the football match tomorrow	La partita è domani e ho già programmato di vederla in TV
PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO	He's leaving for Paris next week	Probabilmente ha già prenotato e comprato i biglietti
PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO	The President is coming here on Saturday	E' già stato programmato
PROGETTO DEFINITO PER IL FUTURO	They are going to Sheila's party tomorrow	E' stato tutto organizzato
