Il Past Perfect Tense
corrisponde in italiano al Trapassato Prossimo ed è usato per
esprimere un evento avvenuto precedentemente al momento passato a cui ci
si riferisce.
Si forma con il Past Tense del
verbo HAVE e il Past Participle di un
verbo. Ecco alcuni esempi:

(hadn't) + Past Participle
Esempio: She
hadn't seen that movie before.
Forma Interrogativa: Had + soggetto + Past

seen that movie before?
Forma Interrogativa-Negativa: Hadn't + soggetto +
Past Participle
Esempio: Hadn't
she seen that movie before?
Si usa il Past Perfect per specificare quale di due eventi
passati è avvenuto prima. Ad esempio:
Evento 1: We
called her
Evento 2: She
finished her homework
When we called her, she had finished her
homework.
oppure
After she had finished her homework, we
called her.
Il Past Perfect si usa inoltre con
espressioni del tipo:
It was the first/second/third/etc time
Esempio: It was
the first time she had left alone.
