Part 1
Last summer Richard had his first holiday abroad. It wasn’t easy for him to decide where to go. His parents suggested visiting some relatives in New York, whereas his best friends wanted to go to Ibiza, in Spain: you know, sunshine, wonderful beaches, discos, nice girls... He was really a bit confused: those proposals didn't sound particularly exciting to him, and he couldn’t make up his mind. Then one day, while he was going to the gym, he met by chance Alan, an old friend of his, and he stopped to talk to him. Alan told him that he had planned to go on an Inter-Rail tour in Europe with his girlfriend, but this wasn’t possible anymore because they had broken up. While Alan was explaining the whole story, Richard thought to himself: why not travelling around Europe together with a dear, old friend? He had finally made his decision!

Part 2
Richard - Hi, Alan, how are you? It’s a long time I haven’t seen you around!
Alan – Hi Richard. You’re right. Last time I saw you was at Eileen’s party, about six months ago.
Richard - Yeah, it’s true. By the way, are you still going out with her?
Alan - No, I’m not… Actually we broke up two weeks ago.
Richard - Oh, I’m sorry. How did this happen?
Alan - Well, …maybe we weren’t so much in love anymore. I don’t know what happened exactly. I guess I should go away for a while.
Richard - Have you already decided where to spend your holiday?
Alan - To tell you the truth, Eileen and me had planned to visit Europe on an Inter-Rail tour. I’ve always wanted to see Paris, Rome, Copenhagen… but I don’t like travelling alone very much, so I think I’ll just go to my grandma’s in Cornwall.
Richard - Listen, Alan… I don’t know where to spend my holidays yet, but I’d be really happy to go abroad for the first time in my life. I mean, why don’t we go together on that Inter-Rail tour?
Alan - Are you serious? Would you really come on holiday with me?
Richard - You bet!
Alan - Well, I think it’s a wonderful idea. What about meeting tonight for the details? We can go out for a pizza and talk about it.
Richard - Great!
Alan - See you later, then. Bye, Richard!
Richard - Bye, Alan!
