GRAMMATICA

FORMA NEGATIVA E INTERROGATIVA DEL SIMPLE PAST TENSE

Indice del Corso

FORMA NEGATIVA

La frase negativa del Simple Past si forma aggiungendo didn't (forma contratta) o did not (forma estesa) davanti alla forma base del verbo.
Il verbo TO BE fa eccezione, infatti è necessario aggiungere n't (forma contratta) o not (forma estesa) dopo was o
were.

Afferm Negat contratta Negat estesa
He had breakfast yesterday He didn't have breakfast yesterday He did not have breakfast yesterday
You drank my coffee You didn't drink my coffee You did not drink my coffee
She was at home last Sunday She wasn't at home last Sunday She was not at home last Sunday
They were alone They weren't alone They were not alone

FORMA INTERROGATIVA

Le frasi interrogative si formano con l'ausiliare did davanti al soggetto a cui segue la forma base del verbo.
Il verbo TO BE fa eccezione perché assume la posizione davanti al soggetto e non richiede l'uso dell'ausiliare
did.

Afferm Interrog
He had breakfast yesterday Did he have breakfast yesterday?
You drank my coffee Did you drink my coffee?
They were alone Were they alone?
She was at home last Sunday Was she at home last Sunday?

Le Wh- questions (domande con aggettivi o pronomi interrogativi quali What, Where, When  ecc.) iniziano con il pronome interrogativo Wh- mentre l'ausiliare did  va davanti al soggetto.

Afferm Interrog Wh- Questions
The team lost the match Did the team lose the match? Why did the team lose the match?
She lived in London Did she live in London? Where did she live?
He was in Rome last year Was he in Rome last year? When was he in Rome?
They were at home at 5.30 Were they at home at 5.30? What time were they at home?

Fanno eccezione le domande che hanno la forma Wh come soggetto: in questo caso si usa il Simple Past del verbo, senza ausiliare, come nella costruzione di una frase affermativa.

Es: Who wrote the message?    What happened yesterday?   Which team won the match?
