SIMPLE PAST TENSE DEI VERBI REGOLARI)

Il Simple Past Tense è uno dei tempi più comuni in inglese e si usa quando l'azione è avvenuta in un periodo di tempo completamente trascorso.

Il Simple Past Tense si ottiene aggiungendo -ed alla forma base del verbo;
tale forma resta invariata per tutte le persone.

In alcuni casi si devono apportare alcune modifiche ortografiche:

VERBI CHE TERMINANO IN...	COSTRUISCONO IL SIMPLE PAST	ESEMPIO
e	aggiungendo -d	arrive - arrived like - liked
consonante + y	cambiando y in i, poi aggiungendo -ed	dry - dried study- studied
1 vocale + 1 consonante (ma non w, x o y)	raddoppiando la consonante, poi aggiungendo -ed	stop - stopped unzip - unzipped
CON TUTTI GLI ALTRI VERBI	aggiungendo -ed	help - helped play -played watch - watched work -worked
