Uso del Past Progressive

  • Azioni che erano già in fase di svolgimento quando se ne verifica un'altra, resa con il Past Simple

    Es: She was playing tennis, when she saw Mike -> Stava giocando a tennis quando vide Mike

    While she was watching TV, her mother called her -> Mentre stava guardando la televisione, sua madre la chiamò

         

  • Azioni che accadono contemporaneamente

    Es: While Brad was reading the newspaper, his wife was talking on the phone -> Mentre Brad stava leggendo (leggeva) il giornale, sua moglie stava parlando (parlava) al telefono

     

  • Azioni avvenute in un periodo determinato

    Es: In 1981 I was working in an Italian restaurant in London -> Nel 1981 lavoravo in un ristorante italiano a Londra
