Passivo
verbo TO BE + PARTICIPIO PASSATO del verbo

 

Nella trasformazione da Frase Attiva a Passiva, il verbo TO BE è usato nello stesso tempo del verbo della Frase Attiva e il complemento d'agente è introdotto dalla preposizione by (non si usa il complemento d'agente quando non riveste particolare importanza).

My mother was cooking dinner. = Mia madre stava preparando la cena Dinner was being cooked by my mother. = La cena veniva preparata da mia madre
Police arrested the thief. = La polizia ha arrestato il ladro The thief was arrested by police.  = Il ladro è stato arrestato dalla polizia
